At the Christmas Market in Leipzig baked goods and hot food are available for the visitor at many boothes. Hot wine or Feuerzangenbowle are offered against the cold. The Christmas market has a long tradition and will bring visitors into a nice mood for the holidays. The Christmas markets programme wlll be completed by stalls selling Christmas. Leipzig’s Christmas Market in the inner city is a very good address for that. It’s open until 22nd December. You can look for Christmas presents, walk around, eat all kind of tasty food and drink mulled wine. At Leipzig’s Christmas Market there are many Christmas booths, a historical market where you can try hot mead, a Finnish village.

Tens of thousands of people at night. This is everything that I heard about with German Christmas Markets. Glad we planned our trip so we could experience this. Worth traveling to Leipzig in late November or December for this experience.

Auf Grund seines einzigartigen kulturellen und kulinarischen Angebotes inmitten der historischen Altstadt, hat er sich inzwischen einen fast legendären Ruf erworben. What: “The tradition of the Leipzig Christmas Market goes back to the 15th century. Due to its unique cultural and gastronomic offers in the middle of the historic old town, it has acquired an almost legendary reputation. With around 300 stalls, it is one of the largest and most beautiful Christmas markets in Germany.” Leipzig Christmas market was actually one of my favourites. Granted, by the time the #christmasmarketcrawl was over, I had a few favourites, but Leipzig was definitely a highlight of our trip. Firstly, unlike Berlin’s Christmas markets, it had a “small town” feel.. Secondly, there was a Christmassy entrance featuring nutcrackers.

Leipzig Christmas market is also valued for the many pleasures it holds for children. Be it the Fairy Tale Forest on Thomaswiese (meadow in front of St. Thomas) with its many scenes from various fairy tales or the market square stage where kids can meet Santa Claus for a chat, little visitors will definitely enjoy being here. As for grown-ups, there is a wide variety of traditional handcrafts.
